March 31 – Missing Pieces

Imagine just for a moment entering into enemy territory.  You have been given a special assignment of war by the United States military, and suddenly you find yourself surrounded by dangerous combatants.  You are about to engage in conflict when you realize you have no weapon, no plan of action, and no protection at all from the enemy.  How confident would you be of victory?

We would not expect triumph under those terms, but why should we expect anything different in spiritual warfare?  Let’s take a quick test-without peaking, can you name the different pieces of the armor of God?  Paul spoke of these garments of warfare in Ephesians 6:10-17.  Seriously think about them for a moment.  How did you do?  Can you name any? One? Two? None?

I believe it is safe to say: if we do not know the different pieces of the armor of God, odds are we are not wearing them.  Can we really expect victory in our spiritual battles if we are not prepared for such conflict?  Let me give you a special assignment for today; study Ephesians 6 and familiarize yourself with the whole armor of God.  Learn them, but more importantly, wear them.  Don’t go to battle with missing pieces.
