September 17 – When Life Begins

Three preachers gathered at a coffee shop to discuss the theology of life.  One preacher spoke up and said, “Life begins when a child takes its first breath in this world.” The second preacher cleared his throat and adamantly said, “Sir, you are wrong.  Life begins when a child is conceived in its mother’s womb.”  The third preacher, who was a veteran pastor, spoke up and asserted, “Brethren, you are both wrong.  Life begins when the last child leaves home and the dog finally dies.”

I believe they are all wrong.  True life begins when we place our faith in Jesus Christ and we become a new creature in Him.  Jesus came to give us life and life more abundantly.  Whosoever believeth in Him shall have everlasting life.  Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.  He is the Life, and the Resurrection; out of necessity therefore we must be born again – with His life.

The world constantly searches for meaning and purpose; but life has no real consolation without knowing Jesus Christ as Savior.  Christ not only gives life, He gives significance to life.  True life begins in Christ.
