During the Vietnam War, the Vietnamese would plant spiked rods straight into the ground in hopes of penetrating the feet of the American soldiers. They knew to injure a man’s foot was to completely render that man ineffective for battle. This plan worked for some time until the American soldiers realized what the enemy was doing. Soldiers were then ordered to place metal plates in the bottom of their boots to avoid the penetration of the spiked rods.
When the Vietnamese realized the soldiers had the metal plates they changed their strategy. They simply planted the spiked rods at an angle. By planting the spikes at an angle the Vietnamese were able to injure the side of the foot and leg, causing more pain and injury than ever before.
Satan works the same way. If he cannot get you from one angle, he will try to get you from another. He is persistent in his pursuit and relentless in his attacks. He is steadily working against us with various devices. He knows what works and what doesn’t. The greatest mistake we can make in spiritual warfare is to think the enemy has given up. He has a strategy against you and is working tirelessly to defeat you in the battle. Put on the whole armor of God and be aware of deceitful tactics.
