February 27 – Selling Pencils with God

How Dixon Ticonderoga has blurred lines of where its pencils are made - The Washington Post

There was a little boy selling pencils door to door throughout the neighborhood. One lady opened her door, to which the boy asked if she was interested in buying some pencils. He said, “Ma’am, I am trying to raise thirty million dollars for a community hospital. Would you like to buy a pencil for ten cents to go toward the effort?” The lady smiled and said, “Son, that is a big undertaking for a child selling pencils at only ten cents apiece.” Confidently the boy pointed across the road and said, “See that other kid at your neighbor’s house? He’s selling pencils too; we are doing it together.”

What the boy lacked in resources he had in faith simply because he found the right partner.

God has given us a big undertaking. We are to shine our lights, we carry the Gospel to the unsaved, we build churches, start missions, preach to the lost, help the needy, and the list goes on and on. When we consider the task we may get overwhelmed from time to time; but allow me to remind you: We are doing it together with God. And with God, all things are possible. The apostle Paul said that he could do all things through Christ Jesus, and so can we. With that being said, grab your pencils and start knocking on some doors. The Lord will go with you.
