Who but Jesus could stand between holy God and unholy men? His death, sacrifice, and atoning work on Calvary forever mended the broken alliance between the creature and the Creator. This is what Paul had in mind when he spoke these words, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1Timothy 2:5).

To bridge such an eternal gap, it would take Someone Who sympathized with the frailties and experiences of humanity while at the same time maintained holy access to deity. Only Jesus Christ was qualified to fulfill such a task. Only Christ had the requirements to take the fallen hand of man and join it with the righteous arm of God.

He is the great Mediator of mankind. He is the Arbitrator of Atonement. He is the Go-Between of Glory. When you and I had no right, no access, no entrance into the presence of Almighty God, Jesus Christ stood on our behalf. He represents us in the courtroom of God’s justice. For those who are saved, God now sees us as He sees His Son. We are in Christ, and Christ is in us! We are the righteousness of God only because we have the Son of God as our eternal Mediator.
