January 14 – The Power of One Voice

Just one person can make all the difference in the world.  There have been times throughout history when major events were determined by the power of one voice.  Consider the following:

In 1645, one vote gave Oliver Cromwell control of England

In 1776, one vote gave America the English language instead of German

In 1845, one vote brought the state of Texas into the Union

In 1868, one vote saved President Andrew Johnson from impeachment

In 1875, one vote changed France from a monarchy to a republic

In 1923, one vote gave Adolph Hitler control over the Nazi Party

The same holds true in Scripture.  Noah was just one preacher who refused to succumb to the evils of his day.  Daniel was just one exile who wouldn’t stop praying.  Elijah was just one prophet who wouldn’t bow a knee to the false god Baal.  John the Baptist was just one voice crying in the wilderness.

Sometimes all it takes is just one person with the right convictions to make an eternal difference.  Be that voice and make that difference, and trust God to give the victory.
