There was a street-peddler in Las Vegas who approached a family for some financial help.  He said to the father, “Sir, could you please give me some money?  My wife is sick and in need of some medicine.”  Skeptically the father asked, “How do I know you won’t take the money and go gambling with it?”  The peddler responded, “Oh no, I wouldn’t do that! I’ve already got gambling money.”

     The Bible has much to say about the stewardship of our finances.  As a matter of fact, Jesus Himself spoke often of the subject teaching us to be good managers of His resources.  Everything we have belongs to the Lord, including our life.  Robert McCracken said, “Get to know two things about a man: how he earns his money and how he spends his money.  You will them have a clue to his character.”

     Knowing that “my” possessions are borrowed from the Lord causes me to handle, with more sincerity, the resources He has provided.  Your savings, your spending, and your investments are a testimony of your priorities.  Keep track of your finances, and you might have a clearer understanding of your faith.  “When you consider that we have the opportunity to successfully live with a divine mission and invest our lives in eternal purposes” said Paul Chappell, “anything less is a tragic waste.”
