December 24 – The Missing Piece

A hardware store sold a ceramic manger scene that was missing the baby Jesus.  When the owner of the store realized the piece was not put in the box, he, in good faith, wanted to return the piece to whomever it was that bought the package.  On the marquee sign he put this message, “If you are missing the Lord Jesus please give us a call.”

Later that afternoon he received a call from a fellow who stated he was missing the Lord.  So the owner packaged the ceramic figurine and headed across town to deliver the baby Jesus.  When he pulled up into the driveway the man came out weeping.  When the owner tried to give the figurine to the broken man he refused the piece.  He said, “I did not buy a manger scene from you; I drove by your store today and read your sign, and realized for the first time in my life what was missing – I need the Lord, I need to be saved!  Could you help me find the Lord?”

Being a Christian, the owner put the figurine in the truck and grabbed his Bible.  Right there in the middle of the driveway the owner of the store helped a poor lost find the missing piece of his life.

May God help us to keep the message of Christ on the marquee of our heart, and may our life’s intent be to help others find Jesus Christ.
