November 23 – How Will Your Story End?

All of us have a story to tell.  Our life unfolds as a book, on which every page articulates the essence of who we are.  Allow me to ask you a question: up to this point, how is the narrative of your life unfolding?  I like what author J.M Barrie said, “The life of every man is a diary in which he means to write one story and writes another; and his humblest hour is when he compares the volume as it is with what he vowed to make it.”

Who are the characters in your story?  What is the main plot?  What about genre? Theme? Setting? What is the overall tone?

What we often fail to realize is that our story is being written every day; and the one disadvantage we have, is that we cannot go back and rewrite the narrative as it was.  The previous chapters are exactly how they are and cannot be changed.  What we can do, however, is begin today’s chapter in a new direction.  Today you can set a new tone, begin a new theme, and chart a new course.  The way to do that is to spend time with the One Who is the Author and Finisher of our faith.  Yes, God gives us the liberty to write the stories of our lives, but when we consult Him for continual direction, the ending will be much better.
