November 4 – Going Down Memory Lane

Not long ago my family and I did some “spring cleaning” throughout the house.  We came across an old photo album that had some pictures we had not seen in years.  As we spread those photos across the floor we reminisced about the days gone by.  Certain pictures triggered certain events and memories of our marriage, our children, and our ministry.  Though our life has changed drastically over the years, the one thing that has not changed is the faithfulness of God.  Each picture was a reminder of His promises and goodness in our life.

In Psalm 37:25 David wrote, “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.”  David, in his older age looked back over the events of his life and realized the faithfulness of God.  Perhaps with a mental photo album set before him, he remembered certain events and experiences.  He meditated upon the good times and the bad; he contemplated battles fought and victories won.  Though David had experienced life as a shepherd, a soldier, and a king, the one thing that was constant was the provision and protection of God.

Why not take a few minutes today and look back over the photo albums of your own life and remember the faithfulness of your God.
