A young boy was having trouble sitting still until his father gave him an assignment. The father ripped a picture of the world from a magazine and challenged him to put all the pieces of the world back together. This would surely keep the boy occupied for at least an hour, but the boy quickly returned with the picture of the world taped back together. When the father asked how he put the world together so quickly the boy replied, “There is a picture of a man on the other side, I knew if I got the man right, I would get the world right.”
Man has allowed sin, self, and secularism to tear his world apart. Most would agree that the world is twisted, turned, and torn into irreconcilable pieces. We all feel the “global groanings” of these last days; but I propose: To get the world right, we need to get ourselves right.
The only way to get ourselves right is to look unto the real man, the man Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 2:5 says, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus.” Paul concluded that Jesus is the Man! He is the only hope we have in this world to be reconciled to Holy God. Instead of trying to fix the world, we need to look unto Jesus, the One who has overcome the world; the one who can put the pieces of our lives back together.
