October 27 – The Devil is a Lie

Jesus called Satan the “father of lies.”  Every falsity told is birthed from the character of the prince of darkness.  From the deception of Eve to the temptation of Christ, he sought to destroy man’s relationship with God.  Today, he still lies to humanity trying to convince us to sin, to doubt, to deny, and to disregard the Lord. Being the “father of lies,” he is incapable of telling the truth.  Has he ever suggested any of these thoughts to you?

  • The Lord really doesn’t love you
  • You cannot make a difference in the world
  • You are not really saved; how can God save someone like you
  • Reading your Bible and praying doesn’t do anything for you
  • People don’t want to hear your testimony of salvation
  • Your past is too sinful to be involved at church
  • You’re not capable of taking on that assignment or ministry
  • Things will never get better in your life
  • Serving the Lord is boring

And the list goes on and on.  His words are like quicksand; they paralyze us from moving forward in Christ.  Rebuke his lies with the Living Word of God.  He may be the father of lies, but your Father is the King of Glory.
