Kyle Manard is an extraordinary human being. He came into this world with a rare condition that affects only one in every two thousand births. A congenital amputee, Manard was born with only the upper portion of his arms and legs. Although he faced many challenges while growing up he never allowed those obstacles to limit him.
Manard’s parents taught him not to use his handicap as an excuse. As a child he played all types of sports including street hockey and football. It wasn’t until sixth grade however that he found his love for wrestling. In middle school he lost all thirty-five of his matches, but when he got to high school he had perfected his craft. During his high school years, he wrestled on the varsity team winning thirty-five matches, and only losing sixteen. He qualified for the state championship, and won the first three matches.
Although Manard has a physical condition, the condition has never had him. In 2005, he wrote a book simply entitled, No Excuses. To Kyle that title is more than a catchy phrase, it is a way of life.
Excuses abound; only those with a will to overcome can experience victory. Do not use your limitations as an excuse. Move beyond your disabilities realizing that you can do all things through Christ.
