The leadership of King Saul was vastly different from the leadership of King David. This was most apparent during the battle with Goliath. King Saul stood alongside his fearful army without any courage to face his formidable foe. He could not inspire nor motivate anyone to fight the beast. Then along came David.
David lacked resources, experience, authority, and position. If you were to compare David with Saul, the differences would be many; however, David walked away that day as a champion of Israel while King Saul walked off the battlefield as a chump. They both had the same opportunity to do something great for God, but only one displayed heroism and valor. What was the difference between the leadership of David and the leadership of Saul?
One word defines the difference between being a champ and being a chump: faith. The one thing Saul lacked was the one thing David relied on. Faith caused David to go down in history as a champ; the lack thereof caused Saul to go down in history something altogether different.
