July 28 – Can God Trust You?

A high-powered executive of a large corporation was caught one day taking a two-cent pack of butter from the cafeteria.  He placed it in his napkin and put it in his pocket.  The CEO of the business got wind of what the executive was doing.  He pulled video tapes from the past two months and sure enough the young executive would take the butter every day.  When the CEO saw the tapes he fired the executive on the spot.  The executive asked his boss, “What’s the big deal; it’s only a two-cent packet of butter?”  The CEO replied, “Exactly, if I cannot trust you with two cents how can I trust you with millions?”

Can God trust you?  Do you take lightly the responsibilities He has given you?  If so, you will never do more than you are doing now; and chances are you will eventually do less.  The key ingredients to successful living are honesty and integrity.  A man who embraces these virtues will be prudent in every area of life and will hold high the responsibilities given him.

If the Lord cannot trust you in the small things do not think for one moment you will be given larger responsibilities.  Author John Foster said, “A man without decision of character can never be said to belong to himself; he belongs to whatever can make captive of him.”  Don’t allow a two-cent pack of butter keep you from the life God has planned for you.
