July 22 – More than Makeup

The name “Mary Kay” is synonymous with makeup.  She runs a multi-billion-dollar corporation with over 4,000 employees and hundreds of thousands of sales consultants.  Anyone who is familiar with cosmetology knows and respects her brand.  Her products are internationally-recognized and respected.

However, Mary Kay was not an overnight success.  She fought the corporate world in the 1950’s and 1960’s, one in which was predominantly controlled by men.  She was discouraged by her legal consultants and lawyers about the line of business she was pursuing.  She sunk much of her life savings into the initial startup of the business; and tragically within the first month of taking her business public her husband died at the kitchen table of their home while doing operations of her day-to-day affairs.  These events certainly hindered Mary Kay but they absolutely did not stop her from pursuing her dream.  Today she is an international success.

If we set dreams and goals for our lives, we are bound to encounter difficulties this is inevitable.  But we cannot allow our setbacks to control our destiny.  If God gives you a dream, a call, or a vision for your life, trust God and leave the consequences to Him.
