June 23 – Time Alone with God

Every time I read through the Gospels I am intrigued by the solitude of Christ.  He was constantly being thronged by the masses; He continually engaged the multitudes.  He was in high demand everywhere He went.  He worked late in the evenings, and rose early in the mornings.  He was surrounded by people who sought His attention, His words, and His time.  And though He was God, He still understood the importance of dismissing Himself from the commotion of life to a place of seclusion and privacy.  Solitude was a frequent part of His schedule.  A thorough study of His life proves that He rose early and He rose often to spend time with God in prayer.

We would do ourselves a favorable service if we followed His steps away from the hustle and bustle of every-day living, and allotted a particular time each day in prayer and meditation.  Jesus never shunned responsibilities in His quest for solitude; on the contrary, it seemed as though His time alone refreshed Him to engage His responsibilities.

I encourage you today to make time for God.  Remove yourself from the loudness of life and allow the still, small voice of God to equip your spirit, renew your mind, and strengthen your faith.
