A local doctor in our area recently ran a promotion on the radio aimed at those who have family members with poor vision. His mantra was simply “Give the gift of vision to those you love.”
Imagine that: affording a loved one the opportunity to see. What a wonderful gift that would be to someone with poor or limited vision. The same thing occurs the moment you and I believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation. He gives to us the gift of vision.
The man who was born blind in the ninth chapter of John had been in darkness his entire life. When Jesus passed by He instructed the fellow to wash in the pool of Siloam. In obedience he did as Jesus commanded and received his sight. When he fell under scrutiny by the Pharisees he simply said, “…one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.” (John 9:25). The shadows of despair and death dissipated with the radiant beam of the glory of God’s Son. Like Israel of old, he “that sat in darkness” saw a great light.
He is the only True Physician with the power and might to give the gift of vision. Has Jesus opened the eyes of your heart so that you can see Him by faith?
