“The only thing Jesus took pains to show after His resurrection were His scars.” –Samuel Zwemer
A business or corporation is usually identified with a slogan or symbol of some sort. The golden arches of McDonalds, the “Just Do It” motto of Nike, the triangular emblem of Mercedes are all iconic in their field of industry. The logo of a company speaks to the style, status, and structure of that particular business.
When it comes to the business of Christianity, what logo do you think best identifies us with Christ?
Contrary to popular teaching it is not a symbol of health, wealth, or even prosperity. It is not a dove, a heart, a smile, or a peace sign. It is a cross. Jesus instructed His disciples to take up the cross and follow Him. Ultimately if we are going to be identified with the Lord our lives must become associated with His death.
The apostle Paul declared, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth within me…” (Galatians 2:20). Paul was not ashamed to be identified with the cross of Calvary. It was the logo of his life. It was the symbol of his salvation.
In order to be followers and disciples, in order to be in business for the King we must grab hold of our cross and die daily.
